Hi...I'm Angela. I'm a registered psychologist and am privileged to support my clients with issues such as stress, anxiety, overwhelm, loss of motivation, low confidence, pressure, loneliness, isolation and grief. Its my mission to support your mental health and well-being.
Deciding on your therapist is one of the most important decisions you might make. Evidence suggests that 70% of your outcomes in therapy come from the relationship between you and your therapist. So... before you begin, you might want to know a little about me and my style of practice. - A few personal things first... I'm in my early 50's, and married to an amazing human who I am grateful to call best friend. I'm also a dog lover, although both my pups have crossed the rainbow bridge, it won't be too long into my future before a new fur friend arrives on my therapist couch!
Through my own life experience, as well as witnessing the many and varied challenges that friends and family have faced over my lifetime, I have been driven to better understand the mechanics of how we operate as humans. I'm dedicated to problem solving.
I first started training in the mental health area in my 20's. Many life events and careers later, I picked up where I left off and qualified as a registered psychologist. Science and evidence based treatment is a priority for me, and I continue with my learning through various professional development opportunities. - I've had the opportunity to develop skills which support some common presentations including stress management, perfectionism, overwhelm, relationship difficulties, drug and alcohol use, depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, ADHD, and trauma, to name a few. I've had wonderful opportunities to work in the area of men's mental health through the provision of EAP services in the construction industry. - My ADHD diagnosis at 40 led me to become very interested in how to manage attention difficulties and hyperactive dysregulation. I've developed an increasing passion for supporting my clients who struggle with ADHD, or attention deficit difficulties in general. Whether these come from genetics, environment, trauma or current cultural challenges (like managing screens and lack of sleep), these struggles often mean facing challenges like feelings of failure, perfectionism, burn out, exhuastion, overwhelm and stress. - Additionally, I have trained and offer support to those managing grief and loss in their life. It is my privilege to stand alongside those who are journeying the very painful and lonely path of loss. I run support groups in bereavement, and have my own experiences of loss which inform my compassionate care for those who are bereaved. - I currently only offer individual therapy to adults (no children or couples) via telehealth. My clients love this relaxed and convenient way of doing therapy. I am focussed on building your resilience and capacity in a non-judgemental and supportive environment. I look forward to working with you... Ange
