For many war veterans, the stress response attained while at war never seems to go away, resulting in PTSD, or chronic stress responses to normal situations in life.

This hyper-vigilance creates an incredible strain on relationships, internal experiences, work place function and day to day living.

Many non-veterans also live with unresolved trauma and stress as a result of various life difficulties.

I visited Earlwood Care Center while helping a family friend, and the atmosphere felt fairly welcoming. Staff members were polite and explained things clearly without overwhelming us. Some areas felt more functional than cozy, but still well kept. Residents appeared comfortable during our visit. It came across as a practical and supportive place.
